With hovering cars it sounds more like Harry Potter- where is Hedwig?

I hope you have agreat time. I will be lucky if I can get to Philly for at least Sunday and I live 15 miles away.

I'll be lucky enough to be in Philadelphia, Boston, and Baltimore for Poe's birth week/fortnight (couldn't get Richmond or the Bronx in there... ugh). Philadelphia for "The Great Poe Debate" on the 13th, Boston for Matthew Pearl/Scott Peeples on the 15th, Baltimore for the big birthday bash on the 17th... There's also a Poe performance in Connecticut I'm trying to squeeze in. So much to do, and no hovering cars to take me there quickly!

The Horse You Came in On is a popular bar in Fells Point, one of the oldest parts of town. But if you're a Poe fan, you might want to try the Poe-themed Annabel Lee Tavern in the Canton neighborhood (not too far from Fells Point).
While you're in town, check the Baltimore Sun's Read Street blog, where we will have guest posts Jan. 18-24 from authors and Poe scholars. Enjoy your time in Poe's adopted hometown.

Heading to the Baltimore celebration and I cannot WAIT! I've enlisted two of my best friends to come with me and we're attending both of the theatrical performances. By the way, has anyone ever heard of a tavern/bar in Baltimore called "The Horse You Came In On?" There are rumors that this bar is inhabited by the ghost of Poe. I kind of want to drop in and check it out. Anybody ever been?

The night with Roger Corman sounds good- I just ordered the last 3 sets of double DVDs from Amazon. I hope they get here in time.

We are less than two weeks away from the official Poe bicentennial... What a great year to be alive - 2009, the year of Poe!

Have people made plans for what they are doing? Heading to a big program/event? Spending a quiet evening at home with Roger Corman? Reading "The Raven" by the fireside near midnight? Do tell!
